Brian is a figurative painter, who is drawn principally to explore the layers beneath the surface of his subject.

Brian describes his process as painting conversations. His works explore the dialogue between the subjects of his paintings, and their communication with the viewer. He deliberately leaves ambiguity, so meaning depends on the interpretation of the viewer.

Often inspired by discussion about current events, his work can be seen as social commentary. He is interested in the psychology of individuals and the ways we communicate; his perception of the essence of a person or relationship.

He is a graduate of the internationally acclaimed Martin Kinnear Studio.
